Anthony Curtis Anthony Curtis
Profile

Anthony is a research academic and senior manager with more than ten years teaching experience in further and higher education and seven years experience in the National Health Service (NHS). He is currently Academic Staff Developer (Continuing Professional Development) at the University of Bath and formerly Head of Education and Training for a Primary Care Trust, an associate lecturer at De Montfort University, and is the Senior Editor of the International Psychology Journal - Psychology Review.

He has a first degree in psychology from the University of Plymouth and a Masters (with distinction) in health psychology from the University of Bath. He has written four books and more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals, mainly in the field of medical education, change management and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Anthony is currently completing a Doctorate in professional studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol (April 2008 completion) into the effectiveness of GP appraisal as an educational vehicle for their CPD.

Professional Anthony is enthusiastic about linking theory with research within an Enhanced critical-evaluative framework, and improving public and private Service sectors in both education and health, through the effective management of organisational change and behaviour.

Experience and Skills 2007 – Academic Staff Developer (CPD) – University of Bath
Enhancing teaching, learning and research for academic staff. Development, Implementation and evaluation of a CPD model linked to appraisal, Promotion and progression.

2001 – 2007, Head of Education and Training, Wiltshire PCT
Managing the Education and Training Department in ensuring appropriate And effective training to more than 2000 clinical and non-clinical staff.

Managed the Education and Training Department through a recent National inspection, the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) with a 94 per-cent pass rate.

Achieved Learning and Skills Council (LSC) approval for the PCT as an approved training provider.

Established a post-graduate management development programme in partnership with five health and social care organisations, validated through De Montfort University (beacon status through the NHS Leadership Centre).

Evaluation of a Framework for Professional Development in Primary Care.

1996 – 2000 Senior Lecturer – Bath Spa University
